After exactly 10 years of advocating for the promotion and development of social entrepreneurship and solidarity economy in Serbia, four civil society organizations that formed the Coalition the Solidarity Economy Development as an informal network: the European Movement in Serbia, Smart Collective, the Initiative for Development and Cooperation and the Trag Foundation jointly decided to register CoSED as an Association.
The Coalition for the Solidarity Economy Development was officially established as a non-governmental and non-profit association on December 31, 2019.
With this decision, the organizations supported and encouraged the improvement of the work and increase of the efficiency of CoSED, in accordance with the Development Strategy of CoSED 2018 – 2020 and the accompanying Action Plan. The perspective of CoSED’s development is reflected in a faster and more adequate response and encouragement of the development of social/solidarity economy actors in Serbia, the entire ecosystem of social entrepreneurship, and the opportunities for cooperation at the local, national, regional, and global levels.
So far, CoSED has gathered civil society organizations that are active in the field of social entrepreneurship and solidarity economy in Serbia, in order to connect them and work together on the development of the field through joint research, strategic, educational, practical incentives, promotional, and other activities. The Association Coalition for the Solidarity Economy Development was founded as a non-governmental and non-profit association, which works to establish a society that develops sustainably, based on the solidarity economy, which enables and encourages economic, social, and political inclusion of citizens.
The goal of founding the CoSED Association is: promotion, development, and improvement of solidarity/social economy and social entrepreneurship, civil society and socially responsible behavior and business.
The main activities of the CoSED Association will continue to be directed in three directions: information, advocacy, and capacity building of social entrepreneurship and solidarity economy in Serbia.
In the coming period, the CoSED Association will focus its work on further advocating the adoption of an adequate legislative framework for the development of social entrepreneurship in Serbia, promotion of social entrepreneurship and solidarity economy in Serbia and building the entire ecosystem for its further development.
